GuardForce Herbicide is a selective, systemic herbicide designed for maize crops, particularly forage maize. It offers broad-spectrum control of a wide range of weeds, including both annual and perennial grasses, sedges, and broad-leaved weeds. GuardForce’s effectiveness lies in its active ingredient, Nicosulfuron, which is absorbed through the leaves and translocated to the meristematic regions of the plant, inhibiting the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS). This inhibition disrupts cell division and plant growth, leading to the death of unwanted weeds within 20 to 25 days.
